My students need assorted snacks to provide to them when they are hungry or do not have items within their home setting!

The students at our school are emotionally disabled high school aged children. Most of our students come from low income families and travel quite far each day to get to their school outside their neighborhood. Most of the living conditions our students overcome on a daily basis, an outsider would not be able to comprehend.
When they show up each morning ready to work, we as teachers try to help them get through the day any way we can, whether it be a listening ear, a should to cry on, the advice giver, or just someone they can rely on to be as the snack provider.
I admire that facing the hardships they do, they are still committed to receiving their high school diplomas in an effort to better themselves. Facing the conditions they do on a daily basis, many people would give up, or not believe in themselves, but every morning our students show up ready to learn, eager to improve their lives, but unfortunately they arrive hungry and need snacks to focus on the academic tasks for the day!
Many days out of the week my students come to school on an empty stomach and complain they are hungry. The reason why many of my students are hungry, is because food outside of their school environment is not something that is always guaranteed. Sometimes for my students the thought of waiting until lunchtime to eat is just unbearable for them! It's very hard to concentrate when your stomach is growling, or you didn't have any food from school lunch the day before!
My students ask me to buy them snacks or lunch all the time since many come to school each day without money on them.
Having a wide array of snacks in the classroom will help eliminate the distraction of hunger pains. Once their hunger needs are met they can concentrate on learning and make the most of their school day, while improving their future by gaining social and emotional growth!
