My Students

My students are special because they are diverse. My students are special because they are curious, mindful, purposeful, and courageous. My students are special because they make me want to learn and grow as much as them to help them be the best humans they can be.

I work at an urban arts-integrated school in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Lousiana.

Some of my students bus here from all over the city, some of my students walk or bike or carpool here from various neighborhoods. My school aims to educate any and all children in New Orleans seeking an arts-integrated learning experience and does so in a positive learning manner.

My Project

Everyone already knows that reading books benefits children from an early age. We're lucky to have a good classroom library full of books, but now we're ready to CREATE OUR OWN! Creating class books, individual student books, and teacher-made books to be used throughout our day would greatly benefit our students, but the process can be a little tricky without the right tools and materials.

Creating our own books helps students take ownership of being authors and illustrators, and really helps make connections between storytelling and the written word, a crucial skill.

We'll be able to create and display so many more stories and artwork with the help of this book binding machine, and it will help our students learn and grow exponentially!
