My kindergarten classroom is a dynamic, engaging environment where learning, exploring, discovering and laughing takes place on a daily basis. I have 24 eager kiddos that come everyday with many different ideas and thoughts. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and interests. They enter my classroom each day with smiles on their faces and and a readiness to learn.
My kindergarten students are gaining a love for reading this year through both picture books and leveled books.
There are many opportunities throughout the day to grab a good book, a pillow and a cozy spot in the classroom. They also use books to create artistic drawings about characters or scenes in a story. They love books!
Our school is comprised of 700+ students in grades Prek-5th grade. Teachers, administrators and parents all take pride in the school making commitments to helping all of the students learn at their highest potential. Students leave our school ready to conquer middle school years and beyond!
My Project
My kindergarten students are at an important and vital milestone in their academic lives. The foundation for literacy skills are being laid. I am trying to instill that love of reading within each one of them.
One of the ways that I am trying to accomplish this is by giving my students opportunities to choose books that are of their interests.
The books that I have picked out to purchase are specifically geared toward the interests and passions of each of my students. These books will help to engage my students on a personal level in reading. They will also help guide my students down the path of becoming life long readers!
