My students need headphones desperately! We do so many differentiated activities on the Chromebooks that the headphones help students zone in on what they are learning without being distracted by others.
Most of my students come from very poor homes. Although they may not have much at home, they come to school excited and ready to learn each day! They are respectful, hard-working, and charismatic. They absolutely love coming to school!
Our school provides free breakfast and lunch to our students and for most, that is the only meals they will get for the rest of the day.
I once asked my students "If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?" Most of them responded with "Wal Mart" or the "Dollar Tree"
My students come from very a very rural area and may not have a lot of money, but what they do have is an incredible heart for others and for learning. They want to become the brightest and the best! I want that for them too! I want to be able to provide my students with as many opportunities as possible and give them the resources necessary to create successful, future leaders!
My Project
I am asking for good quality headphones that will last us all for years to come! These headphones will benefit my students tremendously. They will help my students focus on the task at hand without being distracted by the sounds around them. Specifically, I use Chromebooks to differentiate. I assign each student certain tasks based on their learning needs. If a student is struggling in a certain area, I assign them specific activities on their Chromebooks to work on throughout the day. The activities include instructional videos, stories, and mini quizzes. We also use Chromebooks at our Listen to Reading center. However, it is very difficult for my students to listen to the audio or book without headphones, without distracting the rest of the groups, whom are at other centers working quietly.
