Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the funniest people I know. They are also creative, kind, and hardworking. My favorite thing about teaching is being able to connect with my students in a way that allows us to joke around together, cheer for each other, lean on each other, and support one another in a way that they might not have otherwise.
Children can’t have too many champions who are all for THEM!!
I love to add myself to their personal community of adults who 100% want them to succeed.
My students are the future and I want EVERYTHING for them. I strive to be my best self so I can model important values and practices to them as well. They are some of my favorite people.
My Project
I teach reading to 5th graders in a low income area, and most of my students do not own their own books at home. I am constantly on the look out for high interest, engaging books to add to my classroom library.
My goal is to help each student find the type of books THEY love to read by exposing them to as many titles as I can.
The books I have chosen for this project are ones that my students have specifically asked for since the beginning of this school year. Their willingness and enthusiasm for reading grows with each new book we receive!
