My students need these books for Reading Club. I will be working with students who have an aversion to reading by making reading fun and exciting through choosing books that are relevant and relatable to them.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This project is for fourth graders who have been identified as needing extra help in reading, whether it be due to boredom with reading or a need of specific instruction from a reading specialist.
The students will be in groups of girls and boys so that we can really target interests and build rapport with one another.
My boys are interested in sports and learning about their role models, while the girls are in need of a relatable female characters.
My Project
I am requesting small group sets of books that will be used throughout the school year in Reading Clubs that I lead/facilitate as a reading specialist. I need these books to conduct literacy circles/book clubs with my students in order to improve their reading and comprehension skills, as well as to engage them with a captivating story which teaches valuable life lessons.
My book selections were made carefully, with the students interests in mind to help engage them positively in rich literature.
The students will use these books to guide rich discussion with their peers. The students will also be involved in reading comprehension and writing activities to strengthen their skills and build their confidence.
