This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you learn to be a great writer with no real life examples? Read to write. The more you read the better your writing will be!

My students are in a urban area with very low income.

They have a burning desire to learn and better themselves but do not have the materials and resources to get better. Many do not have access to books at home that are at their level and do not have the means to access the public library due to lack of transportation. My students struggle with writing. They never see how it will benefit them later in life. The love to read and they are very driven to read expository text. I love my students and they deserve a great chance of becoming well rounded, educated adults. I strive everyday to teach them everything I can. Donating to these students will be changing lives for years to come.

My Project

I would love to have a variety of reading resources for students to access during writers workshop. When students can read and immerse themselves in a story, learning magic begins. The knowledge comes when the students can understand what techniques were used in order for that author to create the story magic. Nothing is more exciting for a teacher when a student finds a component you have been teaching in their reading! The reason I want leveled books is because students who are lower need reading books that will suit their level. Students who are higher need books at their level to dive deeper in the text. I would love the opportunity to differentiate my writing time through leveled readers.

Your extremely generous donations will help to make students' writing come alive and inspire others.

Teaching writing through reading is the best and most exciting way to become a great writer. Please help fund a project that can change my students lives forever! Thank you!
