I am the Family and Consumer Science Teacher at a Middle School. This project will all every student at our school in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade learn basic skills in the kitchen!
Students learning basic cooking skills in a safe environment allows them to succeed!
Students love hands on learning and cooking is a wonderful opportunity for them to do so. We hope you'll help us reach our goal! Teaching kids using hands on learning is an important part of their social and physical development!
My Project
Students in our area come from many different backgrounds and walks of life. These supplies will help in the beginning of basic knife skills. Those skills will allow all students to stand on a level playing field when it comes to High School courses. Wisconsin is a leader when it comes to career and technical education courses, offering tons of opportunity for all students to participate in. Using plastic knives (with the correct shape and feel) will help students learn in safe way. The real chef knives will assist us in creating actual food products.
Not all kids have the opportunity to cook with parents at home.
These supplies will help our students thrive in careers and at home! Students who learn to cook in a safe environment are more likely to be successful at home or outside of the home while cooking. Wisconsin is a leader when it comes to career and technical education courses, our middle and high school offer many opportunities including Family and Consumer Science for students to thrive in.
