Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are awesome 5-6 year old kindergartners.
Some of my students have never been to school, while some have had some preschool or transitional kindergarten.
My students love coming to school to learn, and I love teaching them. I only wish I could offer them more! It is bliss to come to work each morning and be greeted by loving students!
My Project
In our school, students earn an Eagle Buck for being respectful, responsible and being safe. At the end of each month, students can use their Eagle Bucks to buy toys and goodies from the school student store. I love that idea, however, I would like to teach my students more...teach them about financial responsibility as well instead of just learning to follow school and classroom rules.
I would like to introduce "Sight Words Cash" to my students because currently, my kindergartners has 88 sight words they need to master.
Our school organized each 8 sight words into an animal clubs and when students have mastered each animal club, they will receive a sight word cash. When they accumulate all 11 animal clubs (sight words), they will get the opportunity to get a personalize t-shirt to celebrate their success in learning these different words. The requested t-shirts and heat transfer vinyl will help me to design a special t-shirt for each child. The Sigh Word Cash will help my students to understand financial responsibilities in the classroom because they will have to practice earning and saving their Sight Word Cash in class.
Saving classroom cash to purchase these personalized t-shirts will motivate my students to make good financial choices and learn to become more responsible with their money as whey grow older. I want my students to understand the concept that they need to save money to purchase services and goods as they grow older. I want to teach my students to become financial responsible so they can become more accountable adults as they grow older.
