The students that I have the opportunity of teaching are the true champions and the reason I look forward to showing up to class every day. Daily, I witness the social and the many various academic struggles of my brave students. Still, their beautiful, sincere smiles, and continuous selfless acts remind me of the amazing students I am blessed to work with every day. The pandemic has caused many of my students to fall behind by not having access to adequate books/audiobooks on their reading levels and not have access to art supplies. I would like my students to be able to come in my room and have an area where they can read or pursue their artistic side while feeling safe.
My students will have access to choose books they are interested in so they can continue to figure out words and phrases they need to succeed in highschool. All of my students have developed interests in reading, and these new books will help encourage these interests! The classroom library will also give them another place to be able to feel safe and comfortable to read books. When kids feel at home, they are able to learn and retain what they read. Reading is the beginning to learning! my students have also had a growing interest in Humanities and would like to be able to have a classroom art section to grow their knowledge in visual arts.
