My Students

This will be second year at Culler Middle School. Last year I did not have a classroom. I was sort of shoved to the back of the stage and had to share the space. This coming year we will be promoted to an actual classroom with walls and everything! But that means we need stuff too fill that space, stuff we could not get last year.

I teach a very special group of kids.

I teach reading to 7th and 8rh graders who read at a very low reading level. A lot of my kids are ELL students whose families came from other countries. That being said, my students are very appreciative and want to learn and succeed! Having a variety of classroom supplies will engage these students and allow me to accommodate their various reading challenges.

My Project

My students struggle with reading so a lot of these art materials and alternative materials will allow me to accommodate their different learning styles so they can all feel comfortable and confident. They love to create and work in groups, so items like the dry erase boards will allow them to do group work and some academic games to really enhance their learning.

Most of my students do not have any of their own materials for the school year, so everything I can provide for them is much appreciated.

We go through a lot of paperwork to process and assess my students' reading, so the filing materials will help keep everything organized. Although my students struggle with reading, and often in other areas, they do love coming to my class, so I want to continue to make it an enjoyable experience for them. They value their education, and I value their learning.
