I am the librarian at Seeliger Elementary and have loved my job for the 20 years I've been at it! Being able to share literature and the experience of taking children to worlds of imagination through books completely fulfills me. The children bring me such joy and fill my soul.
Though these last years with our pandemic have proved challenging, the students and I have maneuvered through it with different approaches of a library experience.
There were many weeks when books couldn't go to hands and I was left with improvising techniques to keep them engaged. The children have not once complained when asked to disinfect their hands, sit 3 feet away, and they continue to wear masks without a sound! They are heroes in every way!
My Project
Floor chairs will help my students relax and enjoy private reading time in the library. The stem items will let my students explore their imagination, learn to do cooperating play with others, and to work with their minds as they build and create projects. The magnet items are great for social emotional learning and teamwork. The students love working together and have been looking forward to some fun, new, and exciting learning. I cannot wait to get these items and see what new learning takes place in my big library.
