This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are so excited to be back in school among their friends and supportive staff. My students love math and have such a joy for learning. My students are really engaged with the math curriculum and are so eager to advance their knowledge.
My Project
My students live in an urban environment where resources are often scarce or not in the best condition. These supplies will help to keep students engaged with current news and events while introducing them to other parts of the world. At 8-9 years old, it is important for children to understand that there are other children in the world experiencing some of the same things that they are going through and that they can get through those challenges. I hope that these Scholastic newsletters open a whole new dialogue about what is going on in the world and how it not only affects us but others as well.
