My students need 2 Kindle Fire tablets to use for learning stations, and 4 Lil Gadgets Connect headphones to be able to partner up and share the tablets together.
My school is located in the rural area of Pfafftown, NC. At the end of August I will be welcoming 23 new Kindergarteners to the Easter Eagle classroom!
It is so fun to watch the wonder in these children’s eyes when they first step into my room—for some, it’s the first class they’ve ever been in.
Typically, I have a diverse group that come from all walks of life. However, no matter what’s going on in their lives, we come together as a family and learn all we can in the 180 day’s we have together.
My Project
So we all know with it being 2018, realistically, what 5 or 6 year old doesn’t like being on a tablet? What they don’t know is, in my class, I’m secretly using that fun and exciting technology to help them practice phonics, build math sense with creative games, and help them explore the world around them with entertaining (but relevant) videos.
Knowing that some of my kiddos can’t access some of these resources at home, I want to provide that for them here at school!
The Kindle Fire kids edition tablets are ideal for my Kindergartners because they are easy to operate, come with a damage proof case, and gives them access to many online resources that they can use during learning stations. With the Lil Gadgets headphones, I can link up to 4 students at a time on one tablet to work on group assignments, or let them partner up and play interactive literacy and math games.
