Mrs. Denning's PreK is always a place for fun and learning! We have 20 students - boys and girls aged 4 to 5 years old. All are very enthusiastic and are excited to come to school each day! Our school serves students PreK through 8th grade and is located in a neighborhood in the heart of the city. Many of our families are low income.
During our full-day PreK my students experience a variety of learning experiences in Literacy, Math, Social Studies and Science along with Social and Emotional Development, Fine Arts and Motor Development.
Learning is never boring in my room! We share much love and laughter and fun ways to learn! We practice writing letters in shaving cream! We learn how to listen for rhyming words by singing and dancing to silly tunes! We fine tune our math skills by counting and sorting holiday candy! We practice getting along with others during choice time activities! This is my 19th year teaching and I continue to enjoy creating exciting and memorable learning activities for my class!
In early January, after days of subfreezing temperatures in Baltimore, a pipe burst in the library above my classroom - flooding our room with hot water and steam. Many classroom materials such as posters, PreK stickers, and other important learning materials were ruined. We also lost our library rug and many of our journals and Outdoor Classroom Toolkit supplies. My students would really love to have their beautiful library rug replaced. I would also love to have help replacing the posters and other supplies that were lost! Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide in restoring our classroom to it's usual Fun Self!
