My students are amazing!

I teach 23 wonderful NYC second grade students. They all come from homes where English is the second language. I work in a title 1 school and most of my students come from low income homes. They are so eager to learn! I go to school each day with a smile on my face because they are just an absolute joy. My class works hard each and every day. We are very short on supplies and the parents just can't help out much. Their academic abilities range drastically. It is imperative that I differentiate learning so I can meet the needs of ALL my students.

My Project

The school that I work in does not make ANY copies for teachers. They have no money for ink and paper. By having my own copy machine, I will be able to send home important activities for homework. The skills taught during the day must be reinforced at home. School/Home relationships are essential to each child's success. I would be able to send home monthly newsletters informing parents of upcoming units of study. Since each child learns at a different pace, I would be able to copy easier material for the struggling children and challenge the children who are exceeding grade level standards.

There is no money being put into our public schools.

Teacher's choice money was significantly reduced this year. I have spent hundreds of dollars of my own money already making copies. Won't you please help?
