I teach in a small, low income, suburban school district as a secondary Life Skill/Learning Support teacher. My classroom is made up of students with either an intellectual disability, emotional disturbance, or learning disability. They have worked so hard over the years to grow not only academically (by mastering several of their individualized goals), but also in maturity and confidence. My students are so special that I believe they deserve access to all the resources they need in order to be successful!
My students would really benefit from high quality headphones to help them concentrate on learning while using electronic devices and specialized rulers which will help them learn measurement to the 1/16th.
Currently my students are struggling to understand how to compare fractions on a measuring tape or ruler and how to measure objects past half inch increments at a time. These specialized rulers I am requesting will give them visual prompts to help them compare fractions and complete math assignments in my class as well as other classes where measurement is a requirement.
The headphones will be used to replace the ones purchased this year that have since become unusable. I would like to provide my students with quality headphones that will last a long time and provide excellent sound while controlling sound around them while they work.
