Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When I think about my students, some words that come to mind are energetic, worthy, eager to learn, and curious. Most of these characteristics come with the territory of being a kid, but others are due to their everyday culture. Every day we work, as educators, to give our students all the necessary tools to succeed both in their education and their character. We do this through engaging activities and exercises.
It is important for kids to have ownership of something that leads them to success, something they look forward to, and something that provides them with the ability to meet their goals.
In order for our students to experience real-world situations and be able to benefit from daily lessons, they require tools to learn.
With your help, I can take our kids from where they are and give them the necessary tools to plan goals and work to reach them. Throughout the school year, our students become more aware of real-life learning situations and how to their knowledge every day.
Every one of my students’ lives was impacted by Hurricane Harvey. As a community, we are working together to rebuild, protect, and soothe our students.
My Project
As a teacher in a low socioeconomic community, I have known from the start that not every child has access to smart technology in their home. Though I knew this causes some bumps in the road, it was justified with a paper alternative to curriculum and concepts. Which was fine while students were still regularly coming to school and able to receive instruction face to face. However, since the pandemic of Covid19 started, I have noticed that paper curriculum is not as efficient when it's not paired with direct instruction and teacher/student interaction. The materials of this project will help bring technology devices to students in my district's community. Currently, my student body is not able to completely be online due to lack of smart devices at home.
By providing our students the necessary tech materials for virtual success, we can instill community in their learning-even from home.
When each student has a way of connecting with their teachers and peers, they can maintain a balance of instruction, comfort, goal implementation, concept learning, and success.
Thank you for sharing and giving your attention to this project. Together, we can give every child the necessary tools to succeed no matter where they are learning.
