Help me give my students a second chance by exploring careers in broadcasting and start a news broadcasting project behind the bars.

I work in a secure facility with at-risk students who read three or more grades below their academic grade level. The students are from different cultures, with various economic background. Our goal is to give an opportunity for each student to reach their academic grade level and thrive towards becoming excellent citizens. Many are not fluent or excited readers, but I would like to allow them the chance to become excited about reading by finding a book series that will enlighten them for their next positive successful adventure. Don’t get me wrong I do from time to time stumble on the inquisitive, voracious readers, who just want to read and do not care about the other academic disciplines, which is why we push for teaching and learning outside the box. Most of my students are hands-on active learners, who enjoy thinking outside the box. I want to be able to inspire them to see their full potential and the ability to explore career options beyond school.
Students will create a news broadcast about campus events and activities. The speaker and mic are needed for voice recording. Flash drives for saving and sharing materials. Ipad for recording the show. The project will assist students with public speaking, writing, collaborating with others while learning. Materials will assist students with creating, recording and publishing on a weekly basis and hopefully, we can eventually do it daily. The flash drive will be for each class period to collect and create ideas within each period and do not overlap. The mic and the speaker will be used to project students voice.
