Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in southwest Detroit. My students come to school eager and ready to learn. A majority of my students are English Language Learners (ELL/ESL). Their native language is Spanish, with little English at home. It is necessary to provide them with as many learning opportunities as possible within the classroom.
My students are amazing.
They are unique in their own way and have different learning styles. A variety of learning tools and hands-on activities in my classroom are a must. My goal is to help them achieve all their goals and dreams.
My Project
As a teacher, I strive to teach my students about diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion. I would like to be able to provide art materials for my students to use when our school reopens next month. Mr. Sketch scented twistable crayons are a favorite art tool for my students.
My students love to draw and create art.
They will be able to use these crayons to create beautiful artwork that reflects themselves. I teach at a very diverse school where almost all of my students are children of color. I feel that it is important that my students see themselves in their learning in order to make connections.
I would love for each child to create a self-portrait using the Mr. Sketch crayons. We can also use them for our directed drawings. I truly believe that our diversity is a strength and want to celebrate our diversity in my students! Thank you for supporting my class.
