Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from the inner city and are mostly English language learners from low-income homes. They are hard-working, respectful, self-motivated young people who are eager to learn! Our school is a pilot school where students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members work together to create the best learning environment possible.
The school's philosophy focuses on social justice and leadership skills with an emphasis on critical thinking, 21st-century skills, and college.
We constantly are trying to find ways to be creative with the resources we have, but basic school supplies and books are what we need most at our school.
My Project
These resources will benefit my students in many ways. The laptops can be shared and used at students' tables when working on science research, presentations, and other collaborative efforts--as well as projects outside the classroom. The covers will help protect them for long time use. They will play an important part of improving students' science knowledge and technology skills.
I'm preparing my 6th graders to succeed in middle school and high school so they will have the opportunity to attend college.
In order to be prepared and compete with their peers, they benefit from the use of technology in their learning. Most of them don't have these resources at home, so I want to provide them with what I can at school. Using these resources on a daily basis will certainly give them the experience and knowledge they need to be successful as they progress in school and college.
