Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from the inner city and are mostly English language learners from low-income homes. They are hard-working, respectful, self-motivated young people who are eager to learn! Our school is a pilot school where students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members work together to create the best learning environment possible.
The school's philosophy focuses on social justice and leadership skills with an emphasis on critical thinking, 21st-century skills, and college.
We constantly are trying to find ways to be creative with the resources we have, but basic school supplies and books are what we need most at our school.
My Project
These materials will make a great difference in my student's learning and improve their school lives. Resources and supplies are very low at my school. We rely on DonorsChoose to supplement many things we need in our classroom.
My students have become avid readers, so they chose most of the books for this project.
The books will be used in novel study and for "just right" books. The book bags will be used to keep their books safe and in good condition. My students also love art so the markers will be used often. We always appreciate more books to read and tools for art!
