My Students

I teach students receiving Special Education Math services in grades 6-8. They are an incredibly lively group of students, who sometimes need a place to relax and decompress. Attending middle school in the Nation's Capital can be incredibly stressful, especially in a school where 100% of the students qualify for free/reduced lunch.

My Project

My students have emotional needs, as well as educational. A therapeutic classroom can help students relax and remain on task, especially at times when they are in distress. Students attending schools in urban environments (Washington D.C) must have their Social/Emotional needs addressed.

A couch will give my students a place to relax in moments of crisis.

A stool will allow me to move around the classroom from small group to small group.

The ottoman's will give my students a place to sit as they develop their social-emotional skills through group work/discussions.
