Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a small group of special needs students math and we need your help getting materials for our classroom. My students learn in a Title I school and my student's families have difficulty providing their children with basics such as paper and pencils. We would like your help to make this school year a wonderful learning experience for everyone.
This year we will be using a new curriculum which focuses on Project Based Learning (PBL). This means instead of learning math using the "old school" way, we will sit in small groups and make discoveries while we build projects based on education standards. The teacher will only be there to guide us. All of my students look forward to this exciting school year and we thank you for any help you can provide for us.
Mr. Johnson's 3rd Period Math Class 2017/18
During this school year my students will learn the following skills, team work, 7th grade math skills, critical thinking skills, problem solving, and a greater love for math. These skills will help them in the future because they will become better math students and be able to solve math problems on their own helping them to become independent thinkers and doers.
In Their Own Words
With your help all of us will have an opportunity to receive critical basic school supplies to make our school year a great experience. We will be able to use the supplies you provided to make creative math projects that reflect what we have learned, then apply our knowledge later in life.
With your help all of us will be able to develop better teamwork and leadership skills. Throughout the school year all of us will have an opportunity to lead each other through the process of solving and creating math project on our own with limited teacher input. we will develop our critical thinking skills to build the best solution to the problem.
This project is important to us because all of us want to become better math students and critical thinkers this school year. We are excited to be part of a new curriculum that focuses on individual student learning. All of us have difficulty understanding math, but with your help math will become our favorite subject.
