I teach advanced English and creative writing to high school students in upstate New York. Like so many communities across the country, our area has endured significant economic and demographic changes over the last couple of decades. Nonetheless, our families and students are resilient, determined and eager to make the world a better place.
My students are writers and readers who will soon enter the world of college and work.
They want to make their mark in the world, and it's my job to prepare them.
My Project
Mr. Gaiman is author Neil Gaiman. He wrote an amazing book a few years ago: The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Mr. Duncan is a stand in for Duncan Yo Yo's.
I would like some books and yo yo's to send out to my students while we are under quarantine and away from the classroom.
I've already sent out many books, and the feedback from students and parents has been delightful.
I've selected several different titles and authors in this proposal so that I can send specific books to specific students. The books are for pleasure reading and not intended for any grades or projects.
I'm hoping that these books will excite students and encourage them to read more on their own.
