Mr. Blandón from Baltimore MD is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the opportunity to play melodies in the classroom. Our school doesn't have the facilities for a piano lab and these bell kits will allow my students to begin their journey in keyboard skills!

Our students come every day to a Title I school where they often are aware of what they don't have, when compared to other school systems. Most students receive free lunches due to the socioeconomic situations many of our families find themselves in. Despite their many hardships, they come to school and find comfort in knowing how many adults here care about them.
Personally speaking, the students are special to me because I get to be a part of each and every one of their lives- all 400 of them!
The younger students challenge me every day with their incredible amounts of energy and their demand for more music and always "faster, faster!" tempos. The older students challenge me by causing me to branch out from typical music instruction and bring to them instruction that they can truly see the importance in and understand how my music class can prepare them for the world.
It makes me proud to see how many of our students put forth the extra effort to show their Wildcat strength through music and dedication.
Every good music class experience involves the students actually making the music. While history, theory, and general music knowledge are important and great to teach nothing gets students more engaged than the reward of playing an instrument.
Many of my students have been asking for the chance to play instruments in class and I would love to give them that chance.
I told them I would do my best to get them what they need. We do currently have bell shakers and triangles but they are worn and do not offer the ability to produce melodies. The students have been studying rhythms for years and learning the ABCs of treble staff for the last few weeks. This will put great use to their already attained knowledge!
