Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have not developed a love for reading but believe that it is something that they have to do. I want my students to develop a love for reading, and this is going to be the year that they develop that passion for reading! Each morning is started off with a reading quote by someone famous.
My students are children who love coming to class because they say their teacher is motivated, energetic, believes in them, and wants them to succeed.
My students are ready to learn but would like to use different forms of technology to enhance their learning. They are always up for a challenge and come in every morning ready to learn something new. They are taught how to be a family and support each other.
My Project
Technology helps enhance literacy and I believe that students should enjoy reading and it not be made as a task. Through the Daily 5 listening center, my students will be able to enhance their fluency and comprehension. I will also be able to implement a listening center into my classroom. This will motivate students more and they will want to read for pleasure instead of it being a task. The students will use the MP3 players to listen to stories and track with a printed text. This is going to support my low readers and help them become better readers. Students will also use iPads to read eBooks, listen to stories, and play reading games to support them in building their vocabulary and enhance their comprehension and fluency.
Providing my students with these necessities will better their literacy and they will be able to practice more on their own.
My students will become great readers who have a passion for reading and are highly motivated to read. Students will share about books that they have read and find so much enjoyment in doing so. These donations will begin to shape the lives of our children and their literacy endeavors.
