Mrs. Roman from Saint Louis MO is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need to experience the joy and wonder of the symphony on a trip to a special education concert of Mozart’s opera: The Magic Flute.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Endlessly inventive, charmingly fantastical and utterly unique, Mozart’s final opera is a light-hearted tale of love and the art of birdcatching. The symphony in our city is presenting a special condensed version of The Magic Flute for elementary students.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds but they all are learning French in an immersion environment.
Even the music class is in French! Our school is a Title I public charter school and 45% of our students are on the federal free and reduced lunch program. The students love learning about music and especially like to perform their French songs for the parents.
There is a special awe that comes when a person first experiences the symphony. The plush red velvet seats, breathtaking decor and most of all the music! Our students have been studying orchestra instruments and operas. We want to bring all of this to life by taking them to an actual concert! The students will be able to experience the symphony at a concert put on especially for area elementary students. The piece that will be performed, Mozart's final opera, The Magic Flute, fits in perfectly with our orchestra and opera unit. The students will learn about, see and hear a live symphony orchestra and opera singers.
Your donations will ensure that all of the students in the 2nd grade and 3rd grade will get to experience this concert.
It is our hope that through this field trip the students will become more enthralled with music not just by hearing it but by seeing an actual symphony perform! We want our students to become lifelong lovers of music and by experiencing a real performance (instead of just watching a video) they will undoubtedly be inspired and changed.
