This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Let us read, and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world.
-Voltaire
As an educator with the wonderful opportunity to teach the entire school I am honestly blessed. Our scholars are creative professionals with a passion to exceed not only through their academics, but in their artistic journeys as well. This year my 4th and 5th graders are transitioning to a Major/Minor structure that allows them to dig deeper into their dreams and aspirations to become professional artists. Every scholar in the Dance Department (The entire school) gives 100% in the classroom.
As a Title 1 Arts Magnet, our in-school and community resources are limited. Our scholars come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. Every day the scholars enter the room with passion that outweighs their personal problems.
My Project
With the journals scholars will be able to document all of their choreography projects, dance critiques, and classroom notes. 4th and 5th grade Majors will also will be creating their own Dance Education Lesson plans for a chance to takeover class and become the Dance Teacher for a day.
Literacy and Dance go hand and hand.
Having the journals will give the scholars a chance to reflect on their journey as artist. Through the journal entries students will be able to practice and implement their syntax skills. In addition to syntax students will be able to use their vocabulary words in projects such as our BME dance.
