My students need a microwave to be able to prepare small meals for themselves.
My students also need tablets so that they are able to independently able to research information while completing reading and writing activities.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in Prince Georges' County Md. My students are special needs students with very limited verbal skills. My class is made up of a variety of learners, all with different backgrounds, learning styles and needs. My goal is to motivate, encourage, and support students by providing them with the necessary tools and resources needed to build a strong foundation of long-lasting learning.
Children need to be as independent as possible.
My students will be taught self help skills. We provide cooking opportunities for children to make small meals weekly.
My Project
These materials will make a difference because it allows me to be able to teach my students how to be independent. Cooking is an activity that helps my students at home and at school. Being independent is a critical part of life. Imagine the feeling of a parent of a special needs child being able to prepare a meal for their parent. My goal is to assist them in being independent.
Tablets allow students to be in dependent also.
They can look up information for projects, they can refer to recipes, and reading stories. Students love to do things by themselves.
