I am a title one teacher of 21 busy kindergartners. We love to move! I would like to use the students' love for movement to motivate and help them learn. My school is a Comer School, which focuses on developing the whole child. Using movement to learn addresses at least two of our pathways, the need for movement (physical) and learning (cognitive). I would like to add 2 step by step number lines, a step by step alphabet line, and an alpha-bug step 'n' spell. By adding these materials to our classroom, we will be able to jump, walk and move to numbers, letters, and build words. I have just completed my first quarter testing and can tell you we would greatly benefit from counting practice as well as letter practice. I know my students would love to put these materials on the floor and work in a small group, work with a partner, or work by themselves moving to letters/numbers. What a concept, learning through play and exercise! Please help us develop the whole child.
