I work at a dual immersion school where English speakers learn Japanese and Japanese speakers learn English. It is a unique school, and it's the only one like it in Michigan. My students come from a variety of towns and backgrounds. Some students are here for a short time while their parents work in the U.S. and others were born in the U.S. It's an amazing school with wonderful students!
My school is only in its fourth year of existence so we don't yet have all of the materials that provide the best educational experience possible for our students.
Because the school is only a few years old, our district hasn't yet provided us with everything the other schools in our district have (technology, various furniture items, etc.). We would love for donors to help us reach our goals!
My Project
Our first graders are becoming great readers, and as a result, we are outgrowing our current selection of leveled readers to send home with our students. We send home book bags with each student, and in each bag is a leveled reader that is a "just right book" for that particular child. This provides an opportunity for the children to read at home with his or her parents.
We want to grow lifelong readers in our class, so having fun and interesting books to share with the students is vital.
These books will be enjoyed by many students, for years to come!
