My students need four Hooki Stools to add to our flexible seating, which allows for movement while reading, writing, working collaborating and just loving to learn.
My 5th grade classroom is a place where students are challenged to learn new things everyday. Reading takes them to the past, future, and all that is possible. Students can choose from a variety of different work areas that fit their individual needs.
The scholars in our classroom all learn in different ways!
They also have discovered that there are areas in the room where they can focus more. You will see them standing and working on a writing project, sitting at the coffee table collaborating on a project, sitting in office chairs that spin-- keeping them focused while reading. Our environment is a place for them to be creative, engaged and learning daily. Allowing my scholars to choices spaces that inspire them to reach for high goal, creates an risk free space to grow!
My Project
The scholars in my classroom have the choice to move around the room to work in an area that fits their needs. This may change depending on the lesson, time of day, mood and tone of individuals. Sitting in a chair may not be for everyone. Our flexible seating is designed to support the different learning styles that active students have today. Fifth graders discover the things that they need as individuals to find success in our classroom. We currently have a variety of options for student to use. From standing, tall stools, a coffee table, exercise balls, mats for the floor, and even some standard chairs.
In supporting our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help the growth mindset in our classroom.

For my scholars who have a hard time being still, these will bring learning to a new level. With the ability to make academic choices in the learning area of our classroom the possibilities of the growth mindset can become unlimited.
