Moving into the 21st Century

My students need access to a laptop. This will allow my students to create and present 21st century projects. We need a class computer that will allow us to move into the technological age.

My Students

The students that I am fortunate enough to work come from a range of socio-economic levels. This is a high poverty school where more than eighty percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch, our students often do not have books of their own to read. Our students enjoy the shared experience of reading books as a class, especially when they are a new twist on a classic. They come to English class with a thirst for knowledge and leave with a love of reading and literature.

My Project

We have limited access to computers in our building. Those we have access to are shared amongst many classrooms. This computer would allow my students daily access to technology that would improve our access to the latest teaching materials. We will also be able to consistently work on class/group projects allowing greater access to all students. These projects will then be able to be shared with the larger group allowing students to practice skills they will need well into the future. With our school population, many of our students to not have access to these wonderful resources any where but the classroom. These students are smart intelligent individuals who are looking to improve their chances of success far beyond the sixth grade classroom.
