“I can’t wait to see your brand new classroom, Mrs. Sullivan!!” While this statement makes my heart melt, it also makes me a little nervous. I have worked at a Title 1 school as a paraprofessional for the past three years, and I have just become a certified elementary/ESE teacher. Now that I have the knowledge and training needed to succeed as a teacher, I want to make sure my students have what they need to succeed as learners.
My second grade students mean the world to me, and I want nothing but the very best for them.
Although we have been provided with a great classroom, I cannot offer my students many of the tools that veteran teachers have acquired over time. These tools include things like additional learning resources, flexible seating, games, and supplemental technology.
This project will not only benefit my students this year, it will also benefit my students in the years to come.
My Project
My second grade classroom is an ESE inclusion room. Some of my students will have special needs that may require additional sensory stimulation and/or movement. Flexible seating will not only benefit these students, but it will also benefit the entire class. With these seating choices, wobble chairs, floor seats, stability balls, and cushions, my students will be able to take control of their learning environment and remain comfortable. Comfortable students are able to stay engaged in learning and meet their learning goals. Currently, I do not have any flexible seating choices. I am seeking these donations to help make my new classroom a comfortable, safe, and positive learning environment.
