My classroom uses technology more than most. Often by the end of the year my students can create and share documents and presentations they created. Students are allowed to be creative to enhance their presentations and blogs.
I have a very diverse class in a low socioeconomic school.
Usually, my class is one-third minority. Many of our students come from broken homes, often half of my students do not live with their biological mother and father. Despite the problems our students may face outside of school, they have performed well on standardized tests.
My Project
One of the biggest holes in education is allowing students to be creative and use problem solving. There is a major push to challenge our students' thinking. I believe that the Bloxels will give my students a great opportunity to explore their creativity.
In Bloxels, students use cubes to create their own video game.
Each color cube represents a different item in the game (terrain, enemies, water, etc). In addition, the blocks can be customized by the student.
Since the app does not run on a Chromebooks, I will also need a tablet to run the apps. The tablets could also have uses beyond Bloxels. There are other apps that can only be used on a tablet that I would like to use in class.
