My students need STEM kits and materials such as an Engineer-A-Coaster Activity and 3D Puzzle Games to support STEAM-based learning in our kindergarten classroom.
What's better than being in kindergarten? My students come to school excited and eager to learn every single day.
Kindergarteners learn best when given the opportunity to play, problem solve, and explore the world around them.
My students are motivated by natural curiosity, interactive activities, and genuine love of learning new things.
I hope to foster this love of learning at the K level and beyond by providing as many opportunities as I can for students to explore, create, cooperate, and problem solve.
My Project
What is STEAM? STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math! STEAM activities challenge students to work cooperatively as they become engineers, critical thinkers, problem solvers, and communicators. These hands-on activities increase student confidence and help them develop the skills they need to be successful 21st century learners. Last year, I incorporated STEAM activities into our classroom whenever possible. This year I hope to provide the children with even more exposure to STEAM by presenting them with new challenges that tie in directly with our curriculum.
The Fairy Tale kits are the perfect addition to our unit on classic stories.
I can't wait to see the students tackle the problems their favorite characters face! There are endless opportunities for re-telling and creating solutions to the problems the characters have using the kits. The math materials will allow my students to explore 3D shapes in a hands-on, meaningful way. Students will have the opportunity to explore different materials with their hands while also completing a math or literacy activity. The other building materials will be available for free exploration and/or added to class STEAM boxes. Students will use the materials in a STEAM box to create different structures - mazes, castles, bridges, and much more!
These materials would be fantastic additions to our classroom. My kindergarten friends will have so many new, exciting opportunities to enhance their learning, all while boosting their confidence, self-motivation, and critical thinking skills! I'm so excited I can give these hands-on learning opportunities to my students with your support!
