Help me give my students the opportunity to fidget, move, and swivel while engaged in learning. The chairs I'm requesting are designed to allow children to move while learning.
I spend my day guiding students toward meeting their learning goals. The seven and eight year old children in my classroom are eager to learn and bubble over with enthusiasm. My favorite part of watching them is when they acquire a new skill. In second grade the children learn many new Math concepts. For the first time they are able to work with 2, 3, and 4 digit numbers. It is beautiful to observe their progress.
Another amazing thing about their growth in second grade is watching them absorb characters in novels.
They identify with chapter books. This year when I finished a read aloud chapter book a very dear student came to me and said "I treasure this book, I will read it to my children when I grow up." These precious children are growing and learning each day. They come to school and give me their best effort and I help guide them toward academic success.
My Project
Second graders love to be on the move. They are in constant motion. I firmly believe that they are learning when they are moving. The school day becomes more exciting when children are able to fidget and move in a safe manner. The chairs I requested are designed to allow students to move, wiggle, swirl and swivel while they are engaged in learning activities.
Having these chairs in my classroom will create greater focus, and honor the spirit of the "on the go" student.
One way the chairs will be used is for small group instruction and will help guide their focus, due to the fact that they can move their bodies, which helps engage their brain. Another use for the chairs will be to help children with ADD , the chairs are designed to settle their bodies. Finally the chair will help children with sensory needs.
