Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a middle school in a large city. We are a Title I school with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast, lunch, and supper. My students are amazing and eager learners, and I want to help them become successful, happy adults.
Most of my students are from the local area.
They have chosen to follow a marine science and environmental studies pathway for their middle school years. English is a second language for many of them. Their parents encourage them to learn as much as they can, while supporting the teachers any way they can.
My Project
I have many students who have been diagnosed with ADHD and ADD. In addition, many of my middle school students just need to move around in their seats. Some of them are not capable of sitting still for 50 minutes. Squirming in their seats is fine until it starts disturbing their neighbors.
These balance balls and bouncy bands will give my students a chance to wiggle while their work without upsetting others.
My students are fidgety and kinetic and I need to find a way to allow for movement without the whole class getting off task.
