I have a group of 18 kiddos from a wide variety of backgrounds. They are all so excited to walk into school every day despite what their home lives may have looked like that morning.
These students love learning, but struggle to stay focused with all of the excess energy they have!
I try to provide many movement breaks throughout the day as well as the use of manipulatives to help keep their attention. However, allowing them to move while learning, they are more focused.
My Project
My classroom needs more options for students. My second graders are full of energy and often struggle to stay in their seats. Some kids like to sit on the floor, while many others need to wiggle while they are working. With the use of these balls and wobble chairs, my students have the opportunity to be safe while moving and staying focused.
Allowing students the use of these seats will help get any extra built up energy and anxiety out.
The items I have chosen for my students will allow them access to movement while still focusing on their learning. It will help encourage wiggling in a positive, safe way.
