The students in my classroom come from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultural upbringings. Our Title I school is located in a suburban area, where more than 50% of students are considered high-needs and/or economically disadvantaged. My students receive both free breakfast and lunch daily. Despite facing these obstacles, my 27 fourth grade students come to school eager to learn each and every day. We work hard to create a safe environment to help us grow and learn together.
My Project
With 27 students in our classroom, there is little room for movement. With several students affected by attentional and hyperactivity difficulties, the need for alternative seating is crucial to help keep students focused and alert while learning. Movement Chairs provide students with a safe, comfortable place to sit while allowing natural movement, wiggling, and increased blood flow to the brain. Students come to school with a variety of needs and learning styles. Classroom furniture that meets these differing needs will help students focus on learning without feeling trapped in one size fits all seating. Movement helps us learn and grow!
