This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are AMAZING! I teach a K-5 ESE class. My students are with me for most of their Elementary years. They are a diverse group of eager learners that learn in different ways.
You cheer for, encourage, discipline, love, worry and connect for 180 days.
You wipe tears, bandage boo boos, find new ways to compete with electronic devices, and make more manipulatives for learning than you ever prepared for in your head. You rap (terribly so, it's more like a nursery rhyme) you create a community with your students to foster the concern, love and care for neighbors. You struggle with them, you believe in them, and somewhere along the way your students become your babies.
I am so proud of the people they are now and all the potential I see for the people they will become. I couldn't ask for a better class of students and that is why I will do whatever I need to make sure they succeed.
My Project
Every student in my room has sensory input and output needs. Flexible seating allows my students to find what is right for them in the moment. Since I have a diverse age group of students one size fits all doesn't work for us. We would need different heights of wobble chairs to allow us to find what makes us comfortable.
We need to move to concentrate.
Wobble seats will allow us to learn while meeting our sensory needs. Students who's needs are being met are able to academically excel. This is why I think this project is so important to my classroom.
