I currently teach kindergarten to 19 amazing students. They are hard-working, kind, responsible, and fun! They have shown outstanding growth in all academic areas. Little do they know, I will be looping to first grade with them. I am beyond excited that I get to make more memorable learning experiences with them.
My students love to move.
They enjoy brain breaks, yoga, and other dances to stimulate their attention and enhance learning. I always encourage my students to move around in a way that is safe and doesn't distract others. Every child has a unique learning style and it often requires a lot of movement and wiggling, especially at the kindergarten and first grade level. It is imperative for the little ones to release their energy so they have less stress and anxiety. Creating an engaging and safe classroom environment is very important to me.
My Project
Movement is a critical piece in successful learning experiences. Children must be able to safely get out their energy so they can concentrate on the subject matter. The pressure of standardized tests and high expectations can frustrate some students at times. It is vital that the learning environment is safe for them to take risks and enjoy learning as much as they can. I am asking for 6 Kore Wobble Chairs for my classroom to be used for one choice of flexible seating. Rather than worrying about them tipping in their chair or reminding them how to sit in their chairs correctly, this will be a safe option for many kids; especially those that need to move to focus and pay attention. The fidget accessories and flexible seating has become very popular recently because all kids need to move. The wobble chairs will help promote engagement and attention in the classroom versus the students receiving reminders about how to correctly and safely sit.

Wobble seats are safe chairs that allows children to move around while they are at their tables. It will also give them freedom where they want to sit for that day, therefore, creating more independent learners. Since I am looping with this group, flexible seating will offer a new, refreshing environment for them as well. This project will allow my students and future students to have more choice in what best suits their needs.
