My students need rolling stands to hold our larger Orff instruments. This would enable them to move the instruments much easier and safer around the room.
Our Neill students show their Longhorn PRIDE (Peserverance, Respect, Integity, Determination and Excellence). They are energetic and full of life! When they come to Music, they want to MOVE, SING and PLAY instruments. We are a new school with new students arriving every week and we are growing FAST.
In Music class, we love breaking into smaller groups and working together as a team on instruments.
Each group learns their own part and then we come together as a class and all play together. They love hearing the song come to life!
I use the opportunity in music class to reinforce our Character lessons, and practice our problem solving and cooperative learning skills.
Our students are truly special and love making music at Neill Elementary.
My Project
When it is time for us to go to the instruments, the students retrieve their instruments from their storage shelves and take them to a designated area of the room where they will practice. When we are done, they must return the instruments to their storage shelf. This teaches them how to carefully handle the instruments and move them around safely. However, some of our instruments are too big for them to move alone. They must work with a friend or, in the case of the Bass Instruments, I have to move them.
This trolley (with the adapter) will enable us to safely move the large Bass instruments around the room and the school.
This will enable them to be more independent in my class and safer when we move the instruments.
Additionally, the trolley elevates the instrument so the students can stand comfortably and play it. Otherwise, they have to bend over or kneel on the floor.
