Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Pre-K Head Start students come from various different cultural backgrounds and are experiencing school for the first time. They are all second language learners and living at poverty level. They and their families are eager for the opportunity to participate in such a high-quality educational program that provides each student with the opportunity to gain basic foundational skills to help them succeed in an educational setting.
My Students are eager to learn, curious, and grateful to be at school!
When it is time to spend the weekend at home, my students often say "Ms. Danielle, I will miss you and the school." We are building and strengthening a wonderful community each day in our classroom with the hopes that these same types of communities are being strengthened outside of the classroom!
My Project
Children love to play outdoors on play equipment, but they also love to play games with each other and explore different ways they can move their bodies to enjoy being active. These materials will help them enjoy the outdoors in collaborative, imaginative, and exploratory ways.
Throwing, catching, kicking, dribbling, bouncing, and rolling!
The possibilities are endless with balls on the playground and so fun to explore. Students can play together or just practice on their own to develop great coordination and large motor skills.
Hula hoops are exciting to roll back and forth, spin on their waist, jump in and out of, or to throw objects through. Using chalk to trace each other also creates both fun, imaginative drawing and game opportunities.
What's more fun than bubbles? Trying to catch them or to imagine where they float off to as they disappear into space. All of these materials will help students keep their blood flowing, heart healthy, and minds active and challenged.
