Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Excited, curious, and active is how the students in my art classes could be described. Encouraging curiosity throughout the school and in the art classroom can be a challenge. Teaching students to make their own movies, using the Klutz Lego Movie making kit, will encourage students to use a new medium.
Movie making provides another opportunity to express emotions, tell stories and represent who a student is and wants to become in the future.
Using technology already being used in our building, students can explore story telling and movie making.
Perseverance and patience will be life skills used to create a successful movie. Cooperation with others and taking the time to work together as a team will be another skill that is used for movie making.
My Project
Telling their story, creating a new story or recreating their favorite characters in a movie are some ways my students will use these kits. Creating storyboards, taking the time to set the background and considering how costumes can impact a story are several skills students will use.
Understanding how much time creating even a 2 minute movie using the Klutz Lego Movie Making kit will be a great learning experience.
Students will work with partners to create their own movie using the kits. Having the opportunity to share their movies with peers and students in other grade levels will help students improve their movie making skills.
Sharing their movies at our annual art show will expand their audience with the premiere of their short films. The hope of working in the movie business may be closer for some students after this experience.
