Movement While Learning

My students need to be able to move while they learn! Studies have shown how beneficial exercise is to the growing mind of young adolescents.

My Students

Despite having a large population (over 50%) of low socioeconomic status, our students excel at learning. We achieved the top growth in middle school aged students for our state. We also have a high percentage of students who have one or both parents serving in the military since we are in close proximity to Fort Campbell.

Although a large school with close to 1200 students, we are a close family of learners who care about one another and look forward to each day.

We set goals and work hard to achieve them. We celebrate our successes and look towards the next challenge. When you walk through our doors, you will feel welcome and inspired.

My Project

Middle school students are notorious for getting sleepy while they are learning and supposed to be focusing. Definitely, our students do not get enough movement during the school day. This manifests itself in two ways--the fidget master or the sleepy sloucher!

These alternative style seats will help promote gentle activity in a manner that is not distracting to other learners and improve the focus of the students who use them.

It will also be a wonderful motivational tool to encourage students to do their best in order to be able to use one of the special seats for the day.
