Help me give my students the tools needed to fully utilize flexible seating and work around the classroom. Clipboards will be used to work on the classroom carpet, in outdoor lessons, and around the classroom.
I teach 5th-grade students in Yulee, Florida who come from many diverse backgrounds. We are an academically high-performing school district. In addition, our school also serves a population of students with varying social, emotional, physical, and learning needs. As new 5th graders enter my classroom, they will be scientists, authors, poets, critical thinkers, and dreamers.
The mission of our school is to embrace diversity and create a community of risk-taking, self-motivated learners who will reach their maximum potential academically, socially and developmentally in a safe and nurturing learning environment.
My Project
Before students transition to middle school, learning how to stay organized and work effectively is an important skill that they should learn. Clipboards, supply bins, and dry erase pouches will allow my students to move around the classroom efficiently while staying organized. In the supply bins, I am planning on placing kid-friendly scissors, crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, and highlighters so students are able to complete interactive notebooks and essay editing while utilizing our flexible classroom seating that was generously funded through DonorsChoose.org.
I have seen firsthand how flexible seating can positively affect students' behavior, engagement, and attitude toward learning.
With your help, I know that these materials will give my students an advantage when working and moving around the classroom. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
