Help me give my students indoor active materials, alphabet and number beanbags, abc bowling and Giant wooden 4 in a row game to use for inclement weather movement time.
We live in a rural area and 17 out of 18 of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches and are from low income and low socioeconomic households.
My students attend a public school VPI Pre School program for at-risk students and the criteria to attend includes living in a low income household.
Our school is also a total school-wide Title I school. Their learning styles vary from student to student but they are all eager to come to school and love learning!
Our families come from low-income poverty households and one parent homes. Some even reside with their grandparents or are living with non biological families and considered homeless.
These students are diverse learners and are eager to participate in engaging educational exciting learning activities. Their families cannot afford to have many relevant educational materials at home to support their child's learning. We need to provide the materials and instruction for them!
My Project
All kids need to move. School is long. Most kids spend seven hours a day at school with a majority of their day spent sitting at their seats. I believe that students learn best when they have opportunities throughout the day to move.
Our class would benefit from indoor bean bags activities, Giant Wooden 4 in a Row Game, Alphabet Bowling, 2-in-1 Three-Hole Bags and Washer Toss game for movement on cold winter days.
Living in an area that has very cold winters and snow, our students miss out on the benefits of outside recess for three months out of the year. We need movement to build gross motor skills! The items in this project would allow us to set up movement activities in our classroom during our active time part of our day. Each item in the project would allow students to increase balance and coordination. They can see, touch, feel, and move while playing and having fun. These indoor activities will also increase ABC awareness and hand eye coordination and with the toss game and the bean bag games. Movement is good for the mind, and this project would benefit all of these kids both mentally and physically! The bean bags have ABC's and numbers so they can lea The Giant Wooden 4 in a Row game will help get them moving and thinking and taking turns building social skills and increasing their physical fitness while playing.
