Movement is essential to a new kindergarten student. My students are five or six when they start school. For some of them, this is their first experience outside of their home. These wobble chairs help students move while still learning. Some students need to have movement to help them focus on their work.
My Kindergarten students need flexible seating to provide them with the opportunity to move around and release their wiggles while learning.
Kindergarten is such an important year to initiate the foundational skills needed for their educational development. My students enter Kindergarten at a variety of different ability levels. Instruction in my classroom is based on the needs of the individual students. I would love to facilitate these skills by allowing the students to have movement in the classroom.
We are a community of learners. My kindergarten students strive to reach their potential every day. Kindergarten is an age where they share their heart with you. The students let you know what is on their mind. They love to share. I think that is what I love most about this age.
My Project
Flexible seating allows my students to have choices. When kindergarteners make the transition from home life to school, they are not given many choices at school. My goal is to provide students with choices for seating. The added bonus is that students will have the opportunity to wiggle on these wobble chairs. This is a perfect choice for a student who has trouble sitting still in class.
I want all my students to grow during the school year, why not give them the opportunity to use their strengths.
Some students learn better standing up, some like to wobble, some like to be comfortable closer to the floor sitting on a pillow. Creating a comfortable environment will help my students be more engaged in the lessons, and therefore more learning will take place. These Hokki wobble chairs will be a great addition to my classroom, allowing movement to take place during learning.
